Today, June 1, 2011, I will be kicking off a 37 day challenge. This is a simple challenge that anyone can take part in and I hope that you will. When we think of the social issue of orphans, we can often feel overwhelmed. I know that not everyone is called to adopt, but that does not mean that you can not help. Each and every one of us need prayer. These children are no exception. It does not matter how far apart we are, we serve a God that is not hindered by time, space or distance. 1 Thesalonians 5:17 Pray Continually; John 14:14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. So this is my challenge, for the next 37 days, I will post a picture of one orphan, so that we can all pray specifically. We are asked to pray with definition. Although the Lord knows our heart, he delights in the tender heart that takes time to express in words what is held within.  Hope you join me on this fabulous journey. God Bless

John 14:18 I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you.

Luke 6:21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

Well, there are blessings in everything, and today it was the shelter from the rain. We went prepared for the crowd, but the weather put a damper on things. I was amazed at the number of people that bundled up and came down to support our community, just was not the best day for Sweet Miracles. I was able to share my ministry with several people and found that to be most rewarding. We will be out and about next week at the Art Fair and Wine Tasting event being held at Spring Meadows in Grants Pass. I look forward to seeing you then. :)  Thank you all to those who stopped to chat and support us.

A HUGE thank you to my helper today! Keanna you are a trooper.

Here you can see orphan children singing worship songs. You can here them saying "God is so good, He is so good to me." They have the hope of Christ which is excellent, but without adoption Christ love does not become a reality. Donating time in an orphanage is great, but it does not change the fact that these children are still orphans. The only way to show them true love is to aide in their adoptions, so that they can feel the grand scheme of Gods love in the family unit. So they can know that just as God has chose you and I to be a part of His family, there are loving parents that want them and choose them. This is the greatest love we can share with these beloved children.

Mike and Malen Papadopoulos have joined Home For Good as missionaries to serve in the Philippines to help establish adoption ministries in churches throughout the country. Malen is Filipina, was born in Manila and speaks fluent Tagalog. She is eager to roll up her sleeves and get involved in seriouss ministry to the orphan children there. Mike and their daughter, Michaela have already visited the Philippines so they will have an easy time adjusting when they move to Manila for a long-term ministry tour. For now they are in the process of raising their support which is quite challenging in these difficult economic times, but God is not daunted by the woes of man and He will provide. (Home For Good, 2010)
I had the privilage of meeting Mike and Malen, prior to Malen departure for the Philippines. I am excited to meet up with her in late August and see how the Lord has been working in her ministry. I have word that we currently have two families waiting to adopt. This is great news. How amazing would it be to be able to bring funds to sponsor one of these adoptions when I leave in August. Please be in prayer for the Papadopoulos family as well as the Sweet Miracles 4 Kids Ministry.  We have been so blessed.  Thank you.

Today was an AMAZING day. For a couple of reasons. First being that the support received from our presence at Calvery Chapel Grants Pass, brought in $406.00. A huge THANK YOU, to all that supported us today..But also, I felt like the Lord allowed me to experience something very special. You see, although I know that the Lord has this for my life, I am still searching out what area he has for me. Am I supposed to be a voice for the children and publicly speak on the issue of orphans, am I to work hands on with the children in the orphanages, or am I to go on and continue my education and obtain my legal degree. I only wish to serve in the way that fits His will for my life. Today as I was sharing with the congregation, I felt it. I felt His presence! Do I like public speaking? Not really. But I am passionate about this and felt the peace and joy of the Lord. If this is your will Lord please open the doors.

We are not all called to adopt, but there are some practical ways that you can serve the orphans. Here are a few:
  1. Pray for orphans on a regular basis
  2. Give clothing and food to orphans
  3. Offer personal hands-on assistance to orphanages and social workers
  4. Financially support an orphanage
  5. Become a foster parent
  6. Organize and lead a church outreach visit to orphanages
  7. Work for an agency that cares for orphans
  8. Become an active member of a group that supports orphan care
  9. Participate in a medical outreach to an orphanage
  10. Teach about adoption in churches and Sunday school, on radio and T.V.
  11. Conduct adoption forums
  12. Help families that you know to raise funds to pay adoption expenses
  13. Start an Adoption Ministry in your church to help many families adopt.

Another great event. Rain and all. There were some obstacles to overcome with this event, but overall it was a success in my book. Again the product was loved by everyone. Two products sold out completely :) (Toffee Love and Coffee Crunch). Received an excellent suggestion from a customer and I think I am going to have to try it tomorrow. There suggesstion was to make a Coffee Toffee! Hmmmmm...We will spend this week in preperations for our Calvery Chapel event.I was speaking with Maureen from Home for Good Foundation and sharing with her my goals for this year. I shared that Sweet Miracles heart was to raise 4500 dollars to sponsor three adoptions and she lit up. She began to share and told me that they have two families right now waiting to adopt. This is so motivating to me. To know that there are loving families out there that want these children and the only thing holding them back is money. That is where Sweet Miracles comes in.
The support and efforts this week came to 223.00. I am very proud to announce that in 4 weeks we have reached 31% of our first goal! Your prayers for this ministry is greatly appreciated. God Bless
